Lamplight is a family worship game and a personal study companion. It is free, has no advertising, and never sells or rents anything about you. This page says plainly what it keeps, where, and why.
You can use most of it without an account
The games and the personal study pages work as a guest. Game rooms use a short join code and the first names people type on their phones; a room lives on our server only while the game is being played and is discarded afterwards. Personal study — your plan, reading progress, journal and the people you call on — is saved in your browser on your own device.
What an account adds, and what we then hold
You may sign in with Apple, Google, Microsoft, or a code emailed to you, and add a passkey afterwards. From the sign-in provider we receive only your email address and, if the provider sends it, your name and profile picture. We use these to recognise you when you come back; we never post anywhere or contact your friends on your behalf.
With an account we store: your display name and nicknames; your family membership and role; family settings such as the worship days and the card deck's used pile and current Planner; evenings the family plans; drop-ins and heads-ups you write (visible only to the people you chose); notes you deliberately chose to share with your family (the note itself stays with you — only the words you picked to share are stored); your game scoreboard; and, if you turn on sync, a private copy of your personal study data so it follows you between devices. That private copy — including the people you call on and everything you wrote about them — is readable by you alone: not by your family, not by other users. Our staff can only reach it through the database's administrative access, which we use for fixing faults and nothing else.
Reminders
If you turn on reminders, your browser gives us a push address. The reminders we send contain only a short title such as "Prepare the Watchtower" or a first name with a time — never notes, never contact details. Turn them off in More or in your browser settings and the address is deleted.
Feedback
The feedback form sends us what you typed, the app version, and a contact address only if you chose to give one.
Who processes the data
Lamplight runs on Netlify (hosting and game rooms) and Supabase (accounts and the database), both under their own security and privacy commitments, with data held in the United States. Fonts load from Google Fonts. Study material is never hosted by us: Lamplight links to jw.org and wol.jw.org, which have their own privacy practices. No analytics or tracking scripts run on Lamplight.
Children
Lamplight is meant to be used by families together. Children play the games as guests with a first name only. Accounts are for adults; a family head who invites a younger family member is responsible for that account and can remove it at any time.
Your choices
Leave a family from the Family page and your family data goes with you. Sign out and your device keeps only what was already on it. To delete your account and everything held under it, email djskinny@skinnymanmusic.com from the address you signed in with and it is removed within 30 days. You may ask for a copy of your data the same way.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the app's What's new card says so and the date above moves.
